ElectrAcoustics

i.e running electricity through acoustic instruments/ potential acoustic instruments to record new sounds.
e.g
sending electronic currents through xylophone keys. how does this affect how the instrument sounds when played? When current is increased? Do the electronic vibrations produce notes? What notes? How is it possible to write music for this?
